Atlantic Yards Development in Trouble (What a...
Well it looks like the economic downturn (cycle?) has Bruce Ratner squirming.  Two separate articles in today’s Times reflect on the possibility that the project may be crippled. I am certainly part of the Develop Don’t Destroy (DDD) crowd, though I was actually favorably inclined towards an arena. Prob. just me suspending the realities of a failed outer borough corp sports thunderdome...

Sorry but my favorite memory of this fine actor was not from the Royal Shakespeare Co. or anything “high” art, but as Mark Van Doren, the patrician father to Ralph Fiennes’ Charles Van Doren in “Quiz Show”  His admonishment to his troubled son:  “If you look around the table and you can’t tell who the sucker is, it’s you.”

"The Last Days of Heath Ledger" →
A heartbreakingly real (but fictional) first person account by Lisa Taddeo in this months Esquire.  There is a photo illustration in the piece of a Times’ crossword where every blank space has been filled in with the name Matilda over and over again. Tragic and poignant and worth reading in its entirety

Gerry Ferraro and her unchanging (see similar comments in 1988!) racist bile. A credit to feminists everywhere-not.   Hillary, who with every day loses remaining slivers of credibility attacking not because she can win but because all she can do is destroy.  The Clintons have been fighting the GOP bare knuckled for so long that they would use the same strategy to destroy the Democratic party....
