A fresh appreciation
On the Q train with the ipod on full shuffle. Oh here’s one I usually skip, Traffics’ “Low Spark of High Heeled Boys”. Sounds a little better today, let’s let it go for a while. A nice grooving baseline and in comes the piano and organ. If stevie winwood was the organist, was he also the pianist? (Or was it that Jim capaldi guy) Dunno. A nice organic sound, subtle handclaps and kinda hippie-ish nonsense lyrics. Still a cool well thought out band sound, maybe I need to reievaluate why I didn’t go for this in the past. And there’s some nice horns in the chorus and some good distortion on the organ in the extended solo, extended solo, extended…. Wait hold on HOW long is this SONG!? 9 minutes plus!? Nope, still hate this Gaylord Fokker indulgent jazz bisquits. Where’s Dee Dee , I need the 1234 of Rockaway Beach RIGHT NOW! (Click, Click, Rock, Smile)
