The first fiction was that government is a contest between truth and error. In reality, government is usually a contest between competing, unequal truths.

Yeah, tell this asshat that of the “competing” truths, there is a) the historically relevant one of liberal economic policy being the only proven successful means of major economic intervention. Therefore the “other” one of governmental malingering (laissez-faire, y’all) is AN ERROR.  Truth.
